ABOUT THE RACE

   The start of the 2008 Westport Island Shore Run

The rescheduled 7th Annual Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race will now take place on Sunday, October 2, 2011, beginning at 9:00 a.m.  The origianl race date of August 28, 2011, had to be postponed because of Hurricane Irene. 

In this exciting race on bridge-accessible Westport Island, you will run on a USATF-certified course through scenic pine and fir tree forests and over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.  The Damariscotta, Maine Lincoln County News has called the Westport Island Shore Run a "beautiful course," and a "very exciting run."  Come run in Maine's best little 10K race
!

NOTE:  The 3.5 mile "Fun Walk" starts at the Old Town Hall at 8:30 a.m.

Other information:

  • Computer timing services provided for the 7th year in a row by 5K Sports Race Management.
  • Distance mile markers and water stations will be provided.
  • On-site EMTs and medical assistance will be available, if needed. 
  • 10K course is USATF-certified - No. ME- 06001 JK.
  • Race is santioned by USATF-Maine.
  • Awards to be presented to top male and female finishers, and to age group winners.
  • Walkers are welcome for the 3.5 mile "Fun Walk."
  • Race T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who pre-registered before the original August 28, 2011, race date.  There are a limited number of additional T-shirts, however, that will be part of the free raffle open to all participants.     
  • Post-race refreshments and awards ceremony to take place at Old Town Hall.
