ABOUT THE RACE:

The start of the 2007 Westport Island Shore Run
The 4th Annual Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race takes place this year on Sunday, August 24, 2008, beginning at 9:00 a.m. In this exciting race on bridge-accessible Westport Island, you will run on a USATF-certified course through scenic pine and fir tree forests and over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay. The Damariscotta, Maine Lincoln County News has called the Westport Island Shore Run a "beautiful course," a "very exciting run," and "more challenging than the Beach to Beacon 10K!" Come run in Maine's most challenging 10K race!
NOTE: The 3.5 mile "Fun Walk" starts at the Old Town Hall at 8:30 a.m.

Other information:
- Computer timing services provided for the third year in a row by 5K Sports Road Race Management.
- Distance mile markers and water stations will be provided.
- On-site EMTs and medical assistance will be available, if needed.
- 10K course is USATF-certified - No. ME- 06001 JK
- Race is santioned by USATF-Maine
- Awards to be presented to top male and female finishers, and to age group winners.
- Walkers are welcome for the "Fun Walk."
- Race T-shirts ONLY to those who pre-register ON-LINE by August 9, 2008, or whose mail-in registration is received by August 9, 2008. All others to receive T-shirts only if available.
- Indoor bathrooms available
- Post-race refreshments and awards ceremony to take place at Old Town Hall.
